Noosa Hinterland historical villages
Take a tour of Noosa’s historical villages and discover a whole new level of old-world charm. The Noosa Hinterland stretches across Eumundi, Cooroy, Pomona, Cooran, Kin Kin and Boreen Point. Each village boasting its own charm and story to tell. Take a mini road trip and seek some hinterland finds and attractions in between.
Visit Cooroy
Cruise west along the Noosa-Cooroy Road and pass-through ancient forests forming part of the Tewantin National Park and Forest Reserve. To get your bearings on the landscape, stop off to take a short walk to the top of Mt Tinbeerwah for breath-taking 360% views. A little down the track is the Noosa Botanic Gardens on the shores of Lake McDonald. Enjoy 8 hectares of gardens with graded pathways, picnic facilities and an abundance of fauna and flora.
Cooroy was founded by Europeans as a timber town in the 1880s. Here you can discover cafes, restaurants, browse boutiques, galleries, homeware, and antique shops. Check out the Copperhead Restaurant and Brewery for boutique beer and great food. The Cooroy Butter Arts Factory hosts exceptional quality exhibitions featuring local and nationally recognised artists.
Experience Eumundi
Eumundi was founded in 1891 and is also known as a timber town. Today the best place to start your Eumundi historical experience is at the discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre.
Or pop in for a crisp local brew at the popular Imperial Hotel – one of the oldest pubs in the region, constructed in 1911. This majestic Queenslander hotel is home to the Eumundi Brewery and offers superb contemporary pub meals.
You can’t forget the renowned Eumundi Markets! Open every Saturday and Wednesday – and here you’ll find a genuine artisan market operated on the motto of ‘make it, bake it, sew it or grow it’.
Or if long lazy lunches and intimate dining is more your seen, you’ll fall in love with Bask at Eumundi.
Historical Pomona
How fitting that ‘Pomona’ was the Italian goddess of fruit trees, gardens, and orchards! This quiet, country village is nestled in the leafy green foothills on Mount Cooroora, surrounded by the Noosa Hinterland food bowl. It offers cafes, a country hotel, distillery, and a country market.
Try Serge Pizza & Pasta, Pomona village Kitchen or enjoy a great ambience at the Pomona Distlling Co.
For a truly, unique experience, book into a silent film at the Majestic Theatre. This community run theatre features live organ music to classic silent movies of a bygone era. The Pomona Museum offers a vast and varied historical collection of artifacts.

Kin Kin – foodie delight
The township of Kin Kin is at the heart of cattle and farming country – surrounded by rolling green hinterland hills. This thriving community has great restaurants and cafes, funky gift shops, and retro country treasures at the Depot.
Don’t miss Black Ant Gourmet at the Kin Kin General Store for fine local and natural produce and delights.
Cooran – home of Noosa Hinterland Brewing Co.
Cooran is another of Noosa Hinterland’s towns stepped in regional history.
The Noosa Hinterland Brewing Co. is one of this areas popular attractions. The Noosa Hinterland Brewing Co. is situated in an historical building adding the experience. Offering boutique beer tasting and great food it is well worth the scenic country drive to get there.
While around Cooran, take the short drive to James McKane Lookout Park. This picture-perfect picnic area has great views across coast and country.
